Webinar: Introduction to FETD

What is this webinar?

This is a free webinar session in which we will introduce our new FETD Engine (Finite Element Time Domain) for OmniSim and CrystalWave.

What is FETD?

FETD offers a high-accuracy alternative to FDTD for structures for which FDTD can be slow, for instance structures involving metals or curved interfaces (ring resonators etc.). In particular it provides users with a very powerful approach for modelling plasmonics. The FETD engine is now included with FDTD as standard, making OmniSim and CrystalWave the world's first package to include a combination of FDTD and FETD!

Webinar times and contents

We will be running two sessions on Wednesday May 6th 2015 at the following times:

  • 8am UK time for attendees in Asia and Europe

  • 5pm UK time for users in Europe and America.

The sessions will be about an hour long and will include:

  • a presentation of the FETD method

  • a discussion of the relative merits of FETD and FDTD

  • live demonstrations of the FETD engine on various structures

  • tips on how to get started with FETD and guidelines on how to run successful FETD calculations.
