The rectangular waveguide editor - a waveguide is defined as a set of slices, each slice is uniform in the lateral direction but can contain one or more layers in the vertical direction. An etching mechanism is provided. This form is ideal for epitaxially grown structures and is the native form of the FMM Solver.

The circular waveguide editor. The wavguide is circularly symmetric and the radial profile is defined as a series of uniform composition cylinders or from a tabulated profile to which the program will fit a cubic spline. This is the native format of the General Fibre Solver.

The Multi-Shape Waveguide - a waveguide is made up of one or more geometrical shapes, each of uniform composition. Rectangular, eliptical and polynomial shapes are provided.

The Mode Finder interface. This provides a uniform and simple to use interface to all the mode finders, providing either automatic mode finding (the MOLAB) or more interactive tools for the most difficult problems.
