CrystalWave consists of a purpose designed layout editor for defining your structures exactly the way you want them, a set of simulation engines and a mask file generator carefully optimised for planar photonic crystal structures. The Layout Editor. Are you finding that you are spending large amounts of time laying out lithographic masks for your photonic crystal designs? Do you find general purpose mask tools just not suitable for photonic crystal applications? If so, CrystalWave’s mask generator may save you substantial amounts of time. CrystalWave is a purpose-designed tool for the creation of lithographic masks for 2D photonic crystal lattice structures. A typical structure consists of a series of holes in a hexagonal lattice, etched vertically in an SOI or GaAs/AlGaAs or other substrate. CrystalWave makes it trivial to specify such structures with holes of arbitrary shape in a hexagonal, rectangular or any other regular lattice. You can add single and line defects to the lattice and add individual holes with non-standard shape or size. FDTD Engine. CrystalWave includes a 2D and 3D FDTD engine. This has been designed from the ground up for the computation of photonic crystals and independent tests have measured the 3D- FDTD it to be easily the Worlds fastest for this application and at the same time using much less memory than other implementations. Frequency Domain Engine: The frequency domain engine for CrystalWave allows you to compute a steady state (single frequency) response for your device in a small fraction of the time it would take in FDTD – to be seen to be believed! (2D simulation only) Kallistos Optimiser: Our market leading automatic optimiser is available to drive the frequency domain engine – together these two tools will reduce design times to a fraction of what is currently possible, making the design of complex PBG circuits a practical reality for all.
